1. HOW TO PARTICIPATE

   

1.1 Eligibility: The VAHS 2012 Planted Tank Contest is open to all residents of British Columbia, Canada.  People of all ages are welcome to participate.

1.2 Contest Period: Starting on 12:00 a.m., May. 16, 2012 to 11:59 p.m., to Oct. 15, 2012. Contestants may start at any time during the above period.  Participants may participate in the Contest by filling out the On-line form on the VAHS website.

 1.3 Contest Entry: Upon completion and submission of the Entry Form, participants will be entered into the Contest for a chance to win (i.e. one entry) a prize upon fulfilling the contest requirements.

 

1.4 Contest Requirements:  Participants must send a Photo (Minimum 600×400 pixel resolution) and Summary every 25 days starting from day of registration.  The photos and summary can be uploaded and sent through the VAHS web site here. Upon registration you have up to a week to submit a single photo of the Bare tank and whatever equipment you plan to use with a summary of what you have done so far and equipment you will use.  Then, 25 days after your previous submission you have a week to submit a photo and summary of the tank at that time and what you have done to reach that point.  You continue with the photos and summaries every 25 days until Monday, October 15,2012 where you can send the final photo and summary.  Participants can only start the planted tank AFTER contacting Patrick at [email protected] for further instructions. Any tank that has already been or is in process of being set up prior to submitting entry and contacting Patrick will be disqualified.

 

1.5 Contest Entry Restrictions: Participants are restricted to one (1) entry per person.  Any excess entries will be invalid for purposes of the Contest.

 

1.6 Awarding of Prize: The Prizes will be awarded to the participants whose entry is chosen based on a majority vote by judging panel, and randomly for surprise draws.  Winners will be announced at the annual VAHS Monster Auction in November, 2012.  The winners will have two weeks from the announcement date to pick up their prize or have mailed to them (at winners expense) otherwise it will be automatically donated to the VAHS.

2. PRIZE(S)

 

 2.1 Prize: The Contest is divided in four (4) prize categories as indicated below.

•  Three (3) prizes awarded for the top Three (3) VAHS members.
• Three (3) prizes awarded for the top Three (3) non-VAHS members.
• Four (4) prizes awarded as Random prize draws.
• Five (5) prizes awarded as Special hidden draws.

 

Each Prize must be accepted as awarded. No cash alternatives, substitution or transfers of the Prize will be allowed.  Announcement and presentation of prizes will be held at the VAHS November 2012 Monster auction. Date to be announced. All prizes are fob Vancouver, winners are responsable for shipping if required.

 

2.2 Notification of Selection: The selected contestant will be contacted by phone or email (using the contact information provided by contestant at time of entering the Contest) at least two (2) times within the fourteen (14) days after the Draw. If the selected contestant cannot be contacted in that time, another contestant will be randomly chosen and the initial selected contestant will be disqualified and will have no recourse towards VAHS or anyone involved in the Contest.

 

3. GENERAL RULES

 

 3.1 Each Prize claim is subject to verification by VAHS and/or its designated representatives. Entries made with multiple addresses or under multiple identities during the Contest period are automatically void. All Contest entries obtained through unauthorized sources or which are forged or fraudulent in any way or otherwise not in compliance with these Rules are automatically void.

 

3.2 By participating, each Contestant  and selected winners agree: (a) to be bound by these Rules and the decisions of VAHS, (b) to release and hold harmless VAHS, its affiliates, subsidiaries, and their respective directors, officers, and representatives including advertising and promotion agencies, from any and all liability for claims/damages including, but not limited to, claims/damages for personal injury, for property damage with respect to acceptance, possession or use or misuse of the Prize or participation in the Contest; (c) to permit VAHS to use his/her name, address, city, province, of residence, photograph, or any likeness for advertising or publicity purposes without any additional compensation and (d) the winner agrees to sign a Declaration and Release Form to this effect .
